Oman Within Reach: Cooperation Agreement Signed with Ostrovok

June 18, 2025 — The Oman Tourism Office in Russia and the online hotel booking platform Ostrovok have signed a cooperation agreement. The partnership aims to boost tourism flows between the two countries, promote both destinations, and develop new travel routes for Russian and Omani travelers.

The signing took place within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, facilitated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Council for Cooperation with Oman.

“The Oman Tourism Office has set an ambitious goal to significantly increase the number of travelers from Russia to Oman and firmly establish Oman as the friendliest, warmest, and most desirable destination for Russian tourists. We are confident that the combination of cultural authenticity, pristine nature, and modern hospitality solutions distinguishes Oman among Middle Eastern countries and makes it attractive for a wide range of travel formats — from family vacations to business trips,” said Regina Rudakova, General Manager of Coati Representative, Head of the Russian Representative Office of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Sultanate of Oman, and member of the Russian-Omani Business Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

With the mutual lifting of visa restrictions and the launch of new direct flights, Oman is becoming an increasingly accessible destination for Russian tourists. According to data from Ostrovok, interest in traveling to the Sultanate has increased 2.3 times since the beginning of 2025 compared to the same period last year. Inbound tourism is also growing: the number of bookings made by Omani tourists at Russian hotels has doubled. Similar dynamics are expected for the summer season.

“Oman is currently one of the most promising destinations for Russian tourists. The mutual removal of visa restrictions and the introduction of new direct flights have made the destination more accessible and opened up greater opportunities for travelers seeking comfortable vacations. We are seeing steady growth in interest both in outbound tourism to Oman and inbound tourism from Oman to Russia, as reflected in the rising number of bookings. We are confident that joint efforts to promote the destination and launch new routes will positively impact the growth of mutual tourist flows,” commented Daria Kochetkova, Managing Director of Ostrovok.

According to the platform’s analytics, Oman ranks among the top 10 foreign countries by inbound tourism volume to Russia. Visitors from the Sultanate traditionally demonstrate a high level of spending power: the average accommodation cost per booking since the beginning of the year was 12,000 rubles per night — 11% higher than the average across other international markets.

When traveling within Russia, guests from Oman predominantly choose 4- and 5-star hotels, accounting for 69% of bookings. Less popular are 3-star hotels (13%), apartments (9%), unrated hotels (7%), and other types of accommodation (2%).
