Russia and Oman resume direct flights

On Thursday, October 31, 2024, an official event of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Oman was held at the LOTTE Hotel in Moscow, dedicated to the opening of the Sultanate of Oman’s tourism office in Russia and the resumption of direct flights by Oman Air.

The business program commenced with speeches delivered by invited officials and speakers of the event: Ahmadov Mokhmad Isaevich (Senator of the Russian Federation), Hamood Salim Al Tuwaihi (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation), Kondratyev Nikita Vladimirovich (Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation), Zembatov Marat Ruslanovich (Member of the Russian-Omani Business Council). The speakers emphasized that in recent years, the Sultanate of Oman and Russia have established closer cooperation, strengthening relations in various areas, particularly focusing on sports, culture, economy, and, of course, tourism, which plays an essential role in fostering bilateral relations between the two countries. They also highlighted that, in recent times, the flow of tourists from Russia to the Sultanate of Oman has grown significantly due to the actions undertaken.

During the event, the speakers presented the unique characteristics and advantages of Oman as a travel destination, discussed plans for expanding cooperation, and outlined projects for further developing bilateral relations. The Head of the Russian Representative Office of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Oman, Regina Nikolaevna Rudakova, spoke about the leisure opportunities in the country and shared information about the plans for the representative office's operations, the tasks facing the tourism office, and the ambitious goals for increasing the tourist flow from Russia to Oman. Representatives of Oman Air — Dmitry Leonidovich Kaparulin (Regional Manager of Oman Air in the Asia-Pacific region) and Margarita Alexandrovna Polyakova (Commercial Representative of Oman Air in Russia) — announced the resumption of flights to the Sultanate of Oman. Flights resumed on October 29, 2024, with Boeing 737-8 aircraft departing from Sheremetyevo three times a week. Starting December 1, 2024, the flight schedule is planned to increase to five flights per week, and from December 25, 2024, to six flights per week. The aircraft is equipped with two cabin classes: business class and economy class.

The opening of the Oman tourism office in Russia underscores the commitment to enhancing tourism ties and cultural exchange between the two countries.
