Oman National Museum

The National Museum of Oman was founded by decree of the Sultan in 2013 and is the country's largest cultural institution, showcasing the nation's heritage, from the earliest settlement, which arose about three and a half million years ago, to the present day. Its mission includes preserving the heritage, educating and stimulating interest in the history and culture of Oman.

• The museum is located in historic Muscat, opposite the Al-Alam Palace, where 14 permanent and temporary exhibitions await visitors. The museum's halls are dedicated to various aspects of the history and culture of the Sultanate of Oman, including maritime history, architectural heritage, Islam, Renaissance and intangible heritage.

• Interesting fact! A memorandum of understanding has been ratified between the National Museum of Oman and the State Hermitage Museum. In this regard, you can find a corner of Oman in the main museum of St. Petersburg, and a corner of the Hermitage in the National Museum of Oman.
