The visa waiver Agreement was signed on April 22 in Moscow in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Sultan of Oman Haysam bin Tarek Al Said. It will enter into force after 30 days from the date of the last notification of the completion of the necessary domestic procedures.
According to the terms of the agreement, each of the parties will provide citizens of the other party's state to stay on its territory without visas for 30 days each time they visit. The total length of stay should not exceed 90 days during a calendar year.
Visa-free entry will be allowed only if the purpose of the visit is not permanent residence, study, or an activity requiring a work permit.
Oman introduced a visa-free regime for Russians in 2020. It assumes the possibility to stay in the country for 14 days without the possibility of extension.
A new visa exemption and an increase in the duration of visa-free stay may draw attention to Oman and have a positive impact on the tourist flow from Russia.
